Today I had an HSG test. Basically, a catheter is inserted into the uterus and they shoot dye up through the catheter into the uterus and through both fallopian tubes. It wasn't awful but isn't something I ever want to do for fun. The entire procedure was done in about 15 minutes. The nurse was wonderful and explained everything step by step. Being on the other side of healthcare helps me to realize how incredibly important it is to teach my students about viewing their patients as humans and not just another task to get through the day. It is truly the little things that makes someone's perception of an event either positive or negative. Thankfully, the past few weeks were filled with little positive things!
